The Transport Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of all company-owned and subcontracted transport units, ensuring safe, timely and cost efficient movement of cargo. This role involves managing drivers and mechanical teams, coordinating with dispatch, maintenance, and port representatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards. The Transport Manager plays a key role in achieving high equipment availability, fleet discipline, and reliable service delivery.
Fleet and Dispatch Operations
> Manager the daily dispatch and return of trucks, trailers, dump trucks and heavy equipment.
> Ensure availability of units for planned trips and real-time adjustment for emergencies or delays
> Coordinate with Logistics Planners for trip assignments, job order execution and route planning.
Driver Management and Coordination
> Manager and lead all assigned drivers, helpers, and traffic/checker personnel.
> Monitor driver performance, conduct toolbox meetings, and implement discipline and safety measures.
> Ensure proper trip ticker issuance, documentation, PPE Compliance, and adherence to company rules.
Maintenance Coordination
> Work closely with the Motorpool Supervisor or Head Mechanic to schedule preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
> Monitor unit condition and ensure that only roadworthy trucks are dispatched
> Record and report breakdowns, delays and maintenance gaps.
Documentation and Compliance
> Ensure all trip-related documents (trip tickets, gate passes, delivery receipts, logs) are properly collected and submitted.
> Monitor validity of LTO registrations, permits, insurance, and other transport requirements.
> Coordinate with Admin or Compliance Officers for renewal and audits.
Reporting and Monitoring
> Maintain daily and weekly transport reports including truck availability, trip completion, fuel usage and breakdown logs.
> Track delivery schedules, driver assignments, overtime and support cost monitoring.
> Report KPI performance to the Transport Manager or higher management. Port / Site / Project Coordination
> Liaise with container yard operators, port terminals, site engineers, and project representatives for loading/unloading, yard permits, and job execution.
> Monitor and control unit queuing, turnaround time, and demurrage risk (for container operations)
> Implement cleanliness and compliance protocols such as Blowbags, truck tools checking, and safety audits.
Gatepass and Operation Oversight
> Oversee the review and monitoring of all gatepasses, ensuring timely processing and minimizing storage or demurrage risks.
> Coordinate with the logistics planner and operations team to prioritize deliveries based on client urgency and gatepasses at risk.
> Monitor and validate TABS transactions to ensure operation accuracy and timely execution.
> Monitor pre-advise for empty containers to prevent delays and potential detention or additional charges.
Client Collaboration and Communication
> Send advisories or memos about updates that may affect daily operations
> Coordinate with the clients to ensure smooth deliveries and follow operational standards.
> Support the team in solving problems that may affect service quality or schedule compliance
